Hand Therapy

Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper limb which includes the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder girdle. Our hand therapists work with patients with a variety of upper extremity disorders, including tendon and nerve disorders and lacerations, fractures and dislocations, inflammatory disorders, chronic pain syndrome and nerve compressions.

Many patients seeking the care of a hand therapist also suffer from such chronic problems as arthritis or neurological conditions (ex: carpal tunnel).

Hand therapy focuses on relieving pain, decreasing swelling, lengthening and remodeling scar tissue, increasing range of motion, decompressing nerves, correcting misalignments, improving dexterity, and restoring strength, dexterity and function.
